The Celebration of Life – exhibition opening

Elämän Juhlat on kuukauden mittainen taideprojekti, joka huipentuu valokuvanäyttelyn avajaisiin ja juhlatapahtumaan. Kevään 2023 aikana projekti toteutettiin Kinaporin seniorikeskuksessa yhteistyössä päivätoiminnan asiakkaiden kanssa. Elämän Juhlat Helsinki 2023 – video on kooste tästä yhteisestä matkasta 13 päähenkilön kanssa.
The Celebration of Life is a month-long art project that culminates in a photo exhibition opening and celebration. During the spring of 2023, the project was carried out at the Kinapori Senior Centre in collaboration with the clients of the day activity groups. The Celebration of Life Helsinki 2023 video is a compilation of this joint journey with 13 main characters.
Elämän Juhlia vietettiin torstaina 4.5.2023 Kinaporin seniorikeskuksessa. Juhlat aloitettiin avaamalla Elämän Juhlat-näyttely, joka on koettavissa seniorikeskuksen aulatiloissa 4.5. – 4.6.2023.
Taiteilijat Paula Koivunen, Pirre Toikkanen, Jonna Wikström ja Tero Heinämäki ovat tutustuneet päivätoiminnan asiakkaiden elämiin, elämäntarinoihin ja sukeltaneet heidän vanhoihin valokuviin. Näyttely koostuu voimauttavista valokuvista, joiden inspiraationa on käytetty Elämän Juhlien päähenkilöiden kuvia ja tarinoita elämän varrelta.
Taiteilijat ovat tavanneet päähenkilöitä viikoittain ryhmätapaamisissa sekä kotikäynneillä. Kohtaamisista ei ole puuttunut kukkia, pullaa tai kahvia. Kiitos jokainen projektiin osallistunut, että avasitte kotinne ovet meille ja tarjositte kahvit useampaankin otteeseen.

Kulunnut kuukausi ja Elämän Juhlat eivät varmasti unohdu!
The Celebration of Life was celebrated on Thursday 4.5.2023 at Kinapori senior center. The celebration started with the opening of the Celebration of Life exhibition, which can be experienced during 4.5. – 4.6.2023.
Artists Paula Koivunen, Pirre Toikkanen, Jonna Wikström and Tero Heinämäki have gotten to know the lives of the clients of the senior center and delved into their life stories and old photographs. The exhibition consists of empowering photographs inspired by the images and stories of the main characters from the Celebration of Life-proejct.
The artists have met the protagonists weekly in group meetings and home visits. The encounters have not lacked flowers, buns or coffee. Thank you, everyone involved in the project, for opening your home doors to us and offering us coffee on several occasions.
Heartfelt thank you for the cooperation Kinapori Senior Center, the staff and especially Anna Silveriö and Sari Herman.
Thank you Flower Rescue for the wonderful flowers throughout the project, the students of Finnish Diakonia College and their teacher Iikka Siren for catering the party and City of Helsinki for funding the project.
The past month and the Celebration of Life will certainly not be forgotten!
